Then and Now - The Cast of 'Titanic'

'Titanic' stands as one of the most successful films of all time, and with its theatrical re-release, we see how far the cast has come 15 years later

Gloria Stuart was an Old Hollywood legend when she took the part of Rose's present-day incarnation, a role that earned her an Oscar nomination at the ripe age of 86. After Titanic there wasn't much more for Stuart in the way of acting, and in 2010, she passed away. She was 100 years old, the same age as her Titanic character was intended to be in the film.

Given James Cameron's recent underwater trip to the Mariana Trench, it seems clear now that Bill Paxton's adventurer character was inspired by the director's own hobbies and passions. And it makes sense Cameron chose Paxton as his surrogate. The two have been longtime pals, which is still evident today judging by their interactions at the Titanic 3D premiere.
